Dry NEedling

What is it?

Dry Needling is a therapeutic intervention using thin, monofilament needles (small enough to fit inside one of the needles a nurse uses to draw blood or give an injection) to stimulate blood flow and the release pain relieving endorphins.

Where can it be used?

Practically everywhere, and we can deliver treatment to anywhere in the upper back/spine, neck, head, face and arms. We plan to add the lower back, pelvis and limbs in the near future.

What is it used for?

It is used to treat pain and dysfunction as part of a well-rounded treatment and intervention plan for Physical Therapy.

1. Neck and back pain: Dry needling can effectively address muscular imbalances, trigger points, and nerve-related pain in the neck and back, helping individuals regain mobility and alleviate chronic discomfort.
2. Sports-related injuries: Athletes often experience muscle strains, overuse injuries, and muscular tightness. Dry needling can be used to complement other physical therapy modalities, helping athletes recover faster and return to their sport with improved performance.
3. Tendonitis: Tendons, which connect muscles to bones, can become inflamed and painful due to overuse or trauma. Dry needling can promote healing and reduce pain within the affected tendons.
4. Headaches: Tension headaches and migraines can be debilitating, affecting one's quality of life. By targeting the head, neck, and shoulders, dry needling can provide relief and decrease the frequency and intensity of headaches.
5. Joint pain: Dry needling can complement traditional joint mobilization techniques by addressing the surrounding musculature.
